Peter And The Wolf -- And Other Selected Favorites
4/37 Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ
Plummer Auditorium, Fullerton High School
Fullerton, California

This recording of Peter And The Wolf is a musical world premiere, as the album features the first ever recording of Prokofiev’s beloved children’s tale as performed on the theatre pipe organ.

In 1936, Russian-born composer Sergei Prokofiev was commissioned by the Central Children’s Theatre to write a light piece of music for children that would introduce young listeners to the instruments of the orchestra. The result – which the composer reportedly composed in a single week – is one of the best-known works of classical music for children.

This album captures Jelani's interpretation of Peter And The Wolf with celebrity narrator George Woods as performed on January 15, 2005 for the ninth annual Wurlitzer Weekend event.
