ARTICLE FEATURING HISTORY OF NEW ZEALAND THEATRE ORGANS PUBLISHED IN ATOS JOURNAL
MADISON, WISCONSIN. A lengthy article written by Jelani Eddington detailing the history
of theatre pipe organs in New Zealand has just been published in the July/August 2004 issue of
Theatre Organ -- the official bi-monthly journal of the
American Theatre Organ Society.
The article, titled The Unit Orchestra In The "Land Of The Long White Cloud" -- A Look At
The Theatre Pipe Organ In New Zealand discusses the history of the seven theatre organs
that were imported into New Zealand in the 1920s. Although none of the instruments currently
plays in its original home, dedicated groups of enthusiasts have continued to work over the
years to preserve the history, tradition, and music of these instruments.
It had been 25 years since any article had appeared in Theatre Organ concerning
the theatre organs of New Zelanad.
