JELANI EDDINGTON & DAVID HARRIS COMPLETE SIXTH ANNUAL PIPE ORGAN EXTRAVAGANZA

JOLIET, IL – Jelani Eddington and David Harris presented four successful concerts over the weekend of April 26-28, 2002, three of which were part of the Pipe Organ “Extravaganza” #6, held annually in the greater Chicago area. On Friday, April 26th, Jelani and David performed two concerts at the residence of Paul and Linda VanDerMollen in Wheaton, Illinois. The centerpiece of the VanDerMollen music room (commonly referred to as the “Wheaton Fox Studio”) is the newly refurbished 4/26 “Wonder” Morton theatre pipe organ and “Model D” Steinway Grand Piano. Highlights of the Friday performances included standards such as Let’s Face The Music And Dance and Stranger In Paradise, as well as Aaron Copland’s Hoedown and Louis Moreau Gottschalk’s Grande Tarantelle.

On Saturday evening, Jelani and David also performed as part of the Rialtofest Extravaganza concert before a near-capacity audience at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet, Illinois. The highlight of the performance included the world premiere performance of their 17-minute tribute, Richard Rodgers On Broadway, which earned the musicians a spontaneous and enthusiastic standing ovation. Jelani and David performed together with other world-class organists Charlie Balogh, Rob Richards, and Ron Reseigh.

Returning to the VanDerMollen residence in Wheaton, Illinois, Jelani and David presented one final program on Sunday afternoon to the Wheaton-Fox Music Lovers’ Society.

David Harris’ appearance as part of the Pipe Organ Extravaganza marked his Rialtofest debut performance. Jelani Eddington returned for his fourth Rialtofest appearance, having performed in Pipe Organ Extravaganza Numbers Two, Three, and Five in 1997, 1999, and 2001.
