ALBANY, NY - On July 28, 1999, Jelani Eddington completed the rigorous, 2-day New York State bar examination in Albany, New York. Successful completion of this examination is required for admission to the New York bar.
On July 27th, Jelani joined several thousand other New York bar candidates at the Pepsi Arena in downtown Albany to take the exam. The first day of the exam tested New York law and consisted of 6 lengthy essay questions and 50 multiple choice questions. The New York exam tested a total of 21 subjects, including Agency, Bulk Transfers, Commercial Paper, Corporations, Domestic Relations, Equity, Leases, Mortgages, New York Practice, No-Fault Insurance, Partnership, Secured Transactions, Taxation, Trusts & Estates, Wills, and Worker's Compensation.
The second day was the Multistate Bar Examination, consisting of 200 multiple choice questions covering generally-accepted principles of law applicable in most jurisdictions. This portion of the exam covered Contracts, Sales, Constitutional Law, Property, Torts, Evidence, Criminal Law, and Criminal Procedure.
All candidates will receive the results from the examination in late November or early December.
