Seattle has been called “The Cradle Of The Theatre Pipe Organ,” as shortly after the turn of the last century the first pipe organ intended specifically to accompany a silent film was installed in the Dream Theatre in Seattle in 1908. Later, Seattle’s 1914 Liberty Theatre, Wurlitzer’s first major success in a dedicated movie theatre, was the organ that launched Wurlitzer as the leading theatre organ builder of the 1920s.
The 2010 Annual Convention of the American Theatre Organ Society was held in Seattle, Washington, and surrounding areas, from June 29 through July 3, 2010. Conventioneers enjoyed 17 fantastic instruments and an equal number of thrilling artists from around the world.
This album features over 140 minutes of music from 2010 convention artists Jelani Eddington, John Atwell, Nathan Avakian, Tony Fenelon, Scott Foppiano, Simon Gledhill, Chris Gorsuch, Richard Hills, Dean Lemire, Jonas Nordwall, Donna Parker, Jim Riggs, Walt Strony, Dave Wickerham, and Lew Williams.
This double-CD set is the perfect souvenir for those who attended the convention, as well as a great overview of an exciting event for those who were unable to enjoy the convention in person.
