Chris Gorsuch Scholarship Fund Created

RACINE, WISCONSIN. We are pleased to start the new year by announcing the creation of a not-for-profit charitable corporation, the Chris Gorsuch Scholarship Fund, in memory of Chris Gorsuch who passed away on October 17, 2012.

Chris earned widespread admiration as a brilliant organist, arranger, and technician. In 2008, he received the prestigious honor of being the American Theatre Organ Society’s Organist of the Year.

The charity that bears his name was formed in December 2012 (WI Corp ID #C083791) with the purpose of raising funds to endow scholarships and other opportunities for young organists and young organ technicians. The charity also hopes to raise funds through the sale of CD recordings of Chris Gorsuch and others. The current members of the board of directors are Jelani Eddington, Ronald Crowe, and John Van Rhyn.

A more detailed announcement of the charity’s planned activities and operations will be made at the memorial concert for Chris Gorsuch on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in San Diego, California.

The concert will be a celebration of Chris’s life and music, featuring musical tributes and performances by some of the top theatre organists in the world.
